These middle school Labor Day activities are perfect for back to school or community helpers and jobs lessons and activities. They can also be assigned as extension or early-finisher activities, or given out as take-home or return-to-school independent practice.

This packet includes a choice board of 9 Labor Day activities and all of the complementary worksheets needed to complete them.

Students can choose from activities like:

Labor Day Acrostic Poem

Read this short history of Labor Day on Infoplease. Using Google Slides or Google Docs, design an acrostic poem for the words “Labor Day.” Be sure to include some facts that you learned from the article.

Help Wanted

Create some real or imaginary job postings for your school. Come up with at least 5 new and creative jobs that are needed at your school. Be sure to make a list of their qualifications needed, post job responsibilities, and each job’s salary. When finished, post your jobs to a bulletin board!

Explain These Quotes

It’s been said that “Without labor, nothing prospers,” and “Work is a privilege, rest is a gift.” In your own words, write what each quote means to you in your writing journal.
