Why Do We Celebrate Father’s Day?

Father’s Day honors and celebrates fathers. It provides an opportunity for children to acknowledge and appreciate their fathers and the father figures that positively impact their lives. The first Father’s Day celebration took place on June 19, 1910 in the state of Washington, however Father’s Day didn’t become a national holiday until 1972 - 58 years after President Woodrow made Mother’s Day an official holiday.

When is Father’s Day 2022?

Father’s Day is celebrated on different dates depending on where you are in the world, but in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States it’s always celebrated on the third Sunday of June. Father’s Day 2022 will be on Sunday, June 19.
