These Martin Luther King Day student choice activities for elementary students are perfect for celebrating and learning about Dr. King's life, message, and vision in your classroom!

They are great as extension or early-finisher activities, or given as take-home independent practice work.

This packet includes a choice board of 9 Martin Luther King Day activities, plus all of the links and Martin Luther King Jr. worksheets needed to complete the activities.

Students can choose from activities like:

A Day of Giving

Dr. King gave so much to the world. On MLK Day, give back to someone else. Write a paragraph about how you can use this day to give back in some way to your family, teacher, classmates, and school community. Draw a picture that matches your writing, and color it.

I Have a Dream Journal

Imagine you are Dr. King. Create a journal entry that outlines your day leading up to giving the I Have a Dream speech. Date it correctly and be sure to include details about that day such as the sights Dr. King would have seen, as well as how you think he felt.

Coloring and Symmetry

Color the Martin Luther King Jr. page and read the paragraph. Look at the frame around the image of Dr. King and use a black marker to draw lines of symmetry in each shape that you see.
