These Martin Luther King Day student choice activities for middle school students are perfect for celebrating and learning about Dr. King's life, message, and vision in your classroom!

They are great as extension or early-finisher activities, or given as take-home independent practice work.

This packet includes a choice board of 9 Martin Luther King Day activities, plus all of the links and Martin Luther King Jr. worksheets needed to complete the activities.

Students can choose from activities like:

Create a Vision Board

Use Infoplease or another internet site to research Dr. King’s famous I Have a Dream speech. Create a vision board outlining your own hopes and dreams for your life, and ways you can help others, by cutting out images from magazines and ads or printing them from the internet.

Let Freedom Ring in Song

There are many songs about Martin Luther King, Jr. Listen to a couple of examples, like this one about MLK Day. Then, write your own song about Dr. King that includes facts about his life, mission, and message.

Nobel Peace Prize Research

Dr. King won the Nobel Peace prize for his work during the Civil Rights Movement. Research 3 other individuals who also earned this honor. Write a short 1 paragraph summary of each person’s achievements that led to receiving the award.
