The best answer is CAKE. A HARVEST is part of AUTUMN. Therefore, in the second pair of words, one word must also be part of the other. A CAKE is part of a BIRTHDAY.

2. INSTANT : GRADUAL :: JOIN : QUIT



The best answer is JOIN. INSTANT and GRADUAL are antonyms – words that have opposite meanings. Therefore, the second pair of words must also be antonyms. JOIN is an antonym for QUIT.

3. CUSHION : PILLOW :: LUKEWARM : TEPID



The best answer is LUKEWARM. The relationship between the first pair of words, CUSHION and PILLOW, is that of synonyms – words that have similar meanings. Therefore, the second pair of words must also be synonyms. LUKEWARM is a synonym for TEPID.
