Fraction Strips, Grades 3-5

This printable features multicolored strips that can be cut out to help students with practicing fractions. Fractions covered as part of this printable include 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/8, 1/10, and 1/12. Students will carefully cut the fractions from the strips, and then use the individual fraction counters to answer questions related to creating equivalent fractions. This can be done as an independent activity, with students working with strips and another printable or a workbook, or as a group activity where fractions are written on a board or called out to the class. As a homework assignment, students could be given a worksheet with a series of fractions on it, and assigned the task of assembling and gluing the correct strips onto the worksheet. This printable is appropriate for middle elementary grades, but can be used in a differentiated classroom as necessary.
