Vivian Kirkfield

Writer for children—reader forever…that’s Vivian Kirkfield in five words. When she isn’t looking for ways to add to her bucket list from skydiving to globetrotting, she can be found writing picture books in the picturesque village of Bedford, NH. A retired kindergarten teacher with a Masters in Early Childhood Education, Vivian inspires budding writers during classroom visits and youth workshops, and shares insights at conferences, webinars, and weekly on her personal blog, "Picture Books Help Kids Soar" where she hosts the #50PreciousWords International Writing Contest and Kids Challenge. Her first book, "Show Me How! Build Your Child’s Self-Esteem Through Reading, Crafting and Cooking", provides parents and teachers with hundreds of learning, cooking and crafting activities for kids ages 2 through 8. She has also authored preschool and elementary-aged picture books, including "Pippa's Passover Plate" and "Four Otters Toboggan: An Animal Counting Book". In addition, she has published numerous nonfiction picture books, including "Sweet Dreams, Sarah", a 2020 Notable Social Studies Trade Book Selection; "Making Their Voices Heard: The Inspiring Friendship of Ella Fitzgerald and Marilyn Monroe", just named Amazon's Editors' Pick for Best Nonfiction for Kids; and the upcoming "From Here to There: Inventions That Changed the Way the World Moves", already named a Junior Library Guild Selection for 2020. Her books can be found on Amazon and bookstores everywhere.
