FutureFit Extension Activities
Get Going
Break students into small groups and using the worksheet as a guide, give them 5 minutes to brainstorm a minimum of 5 ideas for jobs that could be done around the classroom in return for “pay” or “rewards.” (Rewards should be things like: no homework passes, extra computer time, etc.). On a 2-column graphic organizer, chart, or on the board, have them record the jobs and the associated rewards. At the end of the 5-minute period, groups should share out their job ideas, and the class should pick the top idea from each group. Write the top ideas on the board (or add them to your current jobs/helpers board).
Get Real
Using the list of jobs generated from the above activity, have students create a bulletin board with a chart that tracks who is responsible on which day for which job, how many rewards have been earned, and how the rewards will be paid out.
