Develop students' math and social studies skills will literature-based activities for A World of Wonders: Geographic Travels in Verse and Rhyme by J. Patrick Lewis and Maps and Mapping by Barbara Taylor. Students will explore features on a globe, read and interpret a scale, compute distances using a scale factor, and find the perimeter and area of landmasses. They will sharpen world geography skills as they review map terminology, create a map, and explore and discuss a Mercator projection.
