Use these Literature Circle Roles to support students to take ownership over their book discussion. Each gives students the opportunity to practice essential reading skills from summarizing to questioning to making predictions. Designed for upper elementary and middle school students, there are six roles included in this packet. A teaching tip is to make sure that you change roles each time your Literature Circles meet so students have the opportunity to practice each reading skill. Collecting these handouts after the circles meet helps you assess students and holds them accountable.
