Use this art-based resource to encourage students to draw pictures that describe what happened on their first day of school. Designed for younger students (K-2), the My First Day of School Picture activity is a fun and creative way to get to know how your class is feeling on the first day of school. Students will engage in self-reflection by drawing pictures of the important parts of their first day: a "selfie," what they ate for lunch, the new friends they made, etc. As an extension, consider pairing or grouping students for a quick end-of-the-day or morning circle time icebreaker.
