Put summaries of several books from the classroom library into different envelopes. Then have students work together in small groups to figure out which titles in the library belong to the summaries of the stories in the envelopes. This can be a “scavenger hunt” activity in which students write their guesses on a separate piece of paper. Bring the class back together at the end of the activity and have groups read from their lists.

Adapt: Have students read through different magazines and pick or cut three pictures of their choosing. Students will then create a quick “story” using the pictures they selected (tip: paste onto construction paper or tape on whiteboard/blackboard) and have partners or the class try to write a title for the “story” being told by the pictures.
