In this social studies activity, students consider what they would need to survive underground for an extended period of time and imagine what life was like for Chilean miners who spent 69 days living underground after their mine collapsed on August 5, 2010. Use the worksheet, letter-writing activity, class discussion questions, and suggested homework assignments to help students understand the challenges and realities faced by the miners.
