Frances Elizabeth Willard


1839-1898

  • American temperance leader and reformer
  • Born in Churchville, NY
  • Graduated from Northwestern Female College in 1859
  • President of Evanston College for Ladies
  • Dean of women at Northwestern University
  • In 1874 she helped organize the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, and in 1879 became its president
