This printable activity from Pearson Education is a fun way to get students thinking about holidays and national days while developing their writing skills. The worksheet includes questions, writing prompts, and a writing template, providing an opportunity to encourage and support creative writing.

Make Up Your Own Holiday Day

Students will think about national holidays celebrated all through the year, from Christmas to Independence Day, and explain which is their favorite and why. Then, students can create their very own made-up holiday. They will need to name their new holiday, describe it, and think about what their holiday traditions might be.

Extension Ideas

Take this activity even further by having your students design holiday cards for family members or loved ones, write a post for social media to launch their special holiday, or create their own holiday recipes for the holiday season.
