FutureFit Extension Activities

Create

Using the worksheet or board/whiteboard, briefly model for students the process of creating pictures with the geometric shapes on the worksheet. Then, give students 10 minutes to create 3 of their own pictures using geometric shapes. At the end of the 10-minute period, have students exchange their pictures with another student, and instruct the class that their homework assignment is to calculate the cost of the pictures they received using the monetary amounts from the worksheet.

Investigate/Solve

Using photos of various historic buildings (churches, museums, skyscrapers, etc.), have students identify the cost of each building based on the geometric shapes they can identify in it. Photos can be projected or passed out, and answers can be calculated or given individually or as a class/group.
