Materials Needed:
- Card stock or index cards
- Colored pencils or markers
- Self-adhering magnets (optional)
- Laminating sheets (optional)
After completing the worksheet “Science, Technology and Society: Making New Soil,” allow the students to use computers or tablets to research which materials CAN and CANNOT be including in a compost pile. Have students make a small composting reference card that can be placed on the refrigerator to remind others which materials can and cannot be composted. Provide colored pencils/markers for students to decorate their cards. Cards can be laminated and a self-adhering magnet can be placed on the back for hanging on the refrigerator.
